| daquan's Full Review: Envision Monitors EN 9110 19 inch LCD Monitor |
WHY ENVISION?
Well,I've never owned any product made by this company name before. My old computer monitor, an NEC still works. It just cannot be adjusted for sharpness, which makes its screen kind of blurry.
The REAL truth came to light though, when I used my new Dell notebook computer for the first time ( see review on that product ). After I began setting up the notebook computer for the very first time, I then turned it off and went back to using the main computer. Then, and ONLY then, is when I noticed that there was a serious problem viewing the screen! Everything looked so blurry & fuzzy.
HOW SO?
Doctors, especially eye doctors & opticians, say that as you get older, your eyes begin to age as well, hence the reason that you may need eyeglasses when approaching middle age. Well, taking that into consideration & perspective, I finally decided that it was time to get a new computer monitor for the home computer.
WHAT MOST INFLUENCED THE PURCHASE OF AN ENVISION MONITOR?
I figured that while I was able to do it, that I might just as well break down and get a new monitor. In the meantime while at work two Sundays ago, in the break room, I came across a sales circular from Staples. In it was a 17-inch monitor on sale for about $89.00 marked down from about $119.00. I thought about getting it, thinking to myself that it was a really cheap buy.
With that to go on, last Monday afternoon, I went out to Staples to look around & see what I can find. It was THEN that I thought about getting a flat screen LCD monitor. I really began to like the style of the units they had there in the store. Quite a few brands & models from which to choose!
I looked at all of the brands & models that were available there. I studied them all, getting as much info as I possibly could. I had inquired about them all through the salesman. He told me about the different brands & models along with their features.
Then, I came across one that stood out in the crowd from all the rest of the units. It was a dark charcoal, almost black, the color of my stereo component system. It sported a large 19-inch screen! It had very fine details & looked very majestic. Flat, thin & high-tech looking! Beautifully mastered & elegant.
But for some reason, I was also still looking at the 17-inch regular model that I had went there for in the first place. I told the salesman about that one. He mentioned the weight of the regular one vs. the weight of the 19-inch flat screen LCD model ( both still made by Envision ). He told me to try picking up the 19-inch model with the flat LCD screen. There is a handle on the back upper part of the unit. I just couldn't believe how lightweight it was! And the control buttons on the side look almost invisible! I could not resist it.
WHAT THEN?
So I decided that that was the one to buy. I went to the cashier to pay for it, the guy got a box to fit it in, wrapped it in bubble wrap & I was on the way home with it.
Note that this unit on display was the last available one in the store. He couldn't find the instruction manual that normally comes with the unit. But I bought it anyway.
WHAT ELSE?
But the main thing was that in addition to it's already marked down price of only $299.00, the salesman took an additional $30.00 off THAT price, making the total price only $269.00! This unit normally goes for about $450.00 or so. It was a discontinued model.
I'd say that I got it at a very dirt-cheap price.I like its sleek dark unique design! Very nice!
WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME?
When I got it home, set it up and turned it on, I was truly amazed at the size of the unit's screen. Like nothing else that I've ever used before! And it takes up only about one third the space the old one was using! And almost light as a feather!
WHAT ARE THE FEATURES?
Features are few, but here they are:
1. Very lightweight. No struggling to get upstairs!
2. Large flat 19-inch LCD screen. Gives you a much greater larger viewing area. No straining of the eyes as with smaller screen monitors.
3. Uniquely arranged control buttons on the lower right side of the unit control the height, width, dept and angle of the viewing screen. Also adjusts color, contrast & brightness.
4. As with most monitors, the viewing screen can be angled to your viewing pleasure.
5. Stands on elegantly styled pedestal.
6. Beautifully styled dark charcoal finish.
7. One-year warranty on entire unit.
8. Easy hookup. Just connect as you would a regular computer monitor!
9. Convenient carrying handle in the back of unit.
10. Green light illuminates when unit is on.
11. Picture resolution is about 20 times better than with regular monitors.
ARE THERE ANY SHORTCOMINGS AT ALL?
As stated above, no manual came with it, I imagine because it was a display model & the original box was thrown away.
The scratches were more than likely caused by the store personnel during setup.
Also, there are a couple of scratches on the screen, but I can live with that. I pointed that out to the salesman, hence the reason for the additional $30.00 off.
OVERALL?
Overall, I'd say that I made out pretty good with the purchase of this unit, given that it has a few scratches on the screen. No other shortcomings other than the manual missing.
FINAL THOUGHTS?
Yes, this was a great find! But it's also a discontinued model. Might still be available in some stores though.
