myuseraccount's Full Review: Sennheiser E835S Professional Microphone
I just started out as a karaoke DJ, and had to get 2 mics quick. I bought an Audix OM-5 used on recommendation of a musician friend, and decided to take a chance on a new E 835 (no switch) for the other one. After only one show, I'm sold on the Sennheiser. Its gain was much better than the Audix, and still with respectable feedback rejection. And the thing just looks nicer, especially if you can find a foam windscreen that fits.
Another thing I've read about it is that the sound at varying distances and angles to the mic is more consistent than most other vocal mics. I don't have a lot to compare it to, but as a karaoke mic, it did well in that department. I didn't have to do much adjusting of level, and left the EQ pretty flat.
About the only issue with it is mic stand clips. It's too fat to fit typical-sized slip-in clips, but they supply a snap-in clip in the box. The clip works well, but most karaoke singers don't know how to put it back correctly. I'm going to find a bigger-than-average slide-in clip for my next mic stand as a result, and use their clip for my booth mic.
The Sennheiser e835 Performance Vocal Mic is designed for lead vocal stage use, it has a uniform cardioid pickup pattern that maintains signal quality...More at Woodwind and Brasswind
