I have been using Microsoft Publisher professionally for several years now. When I first started using the XP version, I was very frustrated because they changed the menus and icons dramatically! The change from Publisher 98 to 2000 was minimal as far as having to re-learn the new features, so I was very surprised to have to re-learn so much in upgrading to XP. You could also use the 2000 version in the 98 program but you CAN'T use the XP version in any other previous version. That's really frustrating because most people haven't upgraded. So if you're sending a file to someone for publishing, you have to save it in 2000 format and lose all of the cool new features you used that are exclusive to XP. Other than those 2 beefs, as big as they are, there are some really nice new features such as backgrounds, better clip art, color picture fading, many more formatting choices, web page creation and more. I'm not sure that these features are worth the upgrade price paired with the headache of re-learning though. Luckily, I received my version with the new computer I just purchased.
