Pros: Sturdy, 8 megapixel resolution, well built
Cons: Pricey
The Bottom Line: Easy to use for "newbies", but complex enough for the enthusiast. The anti-shake is terrific. Pricey, but worth it.

| hangloose's Full Review: Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 Digital Camera |
I finally decided to purchase the Dimage A2 over the other 8 megapixel cameras in large part, because of the anti-shake capability. The camera arrived a couple of days ago and we've been getting to know each other.
The A2 is built of metal, not plastic like some other models out there. The controls are well placed and easy to reach while shooting. I also ordered the 6 AA battery base, which enables verticle shooting and provides an additional shutter release button for easy access. The EVF is crystal clear and all the icons are easy to read and understand. The LED has good resolution and an easy to understand menu. Beware of overuse of the LED though, it chews up batteries very quickly. It didn't take long to find I need rechargables. My brother though, also bought the A2, but rarely uses his LED. He's at 200 frames and counting on the enclosed lithium battery.
The macro feature is ok, but not great. You still have to stay about 13" away from your subject, whereas the Nikon's give you up to 1.3". The manual zoom lense is nice, not to stiff and not too loose. The lense is compatible with some of my Minolta Maxxum lenses, such as the fisheye. Also, with a new adapter, the Cokin filters I have will also work. The A2 will work with the Maxxum's remote shutter release as well. For me it saves a lot of money.
Since I am new to digital, I am using the A2's point and shoot capability. So far, I have only taken daylight photos at ISO 100. I will update this as I get to know the camera over the next few months. So far though, I love it!
