Pros: 3.2Mp; autoflash; excellent viewfinder; easy, intuitive menus; least-loss JPG compression storage
Cons: Battery life!!! Awful. Too sensitive.
SD-RAM only 16MB.
The Bottom Line: Very good choice, although the battery life is more than an annoyance. Everything else (price, photo quality, ease-of-use) speaks for it.

| bad_doggie's Full Review: Konica Minolta DiMAGE E323 Digital Camera |
I finally broke down and bought a new digital camera since the seven-year-old Casio QV-200 is no longer sufficient for my needs and now qualifies for about 80% disability.
I went to Media Markt (German electronics store much like Best Buy or Circuit City) and looked through the cameras and prices. I came across the E323 in the EUR 150-200 range (currently about US$240 plus the 2-year EU-enforced warranty), which was the most I was willing to spend. Luckily, I was at the store on a weekday afternoon, so most of the cameras had functioning batteries and could be given at least a once-over. The E323 was in this part of the display.
The E323 had a much higher pixel count than most cameras in this price range plus 3x actual and 4x interpolated zoom. Good start. Konica-Minolta is an older name in cameras. More points. I didn't have to look at a manual to figure out how to do anything. I found four resolutions (600x480, 1600x1200, 2048x1536 and 2880x2160) which should suffice for almost all my needs.
I got it home.
The pix are great.
However, the battery life is awful. If I'm lucky I get about 30 shots at 2048x1536 (most with flash) before the camera shuts down and I have to do the power-on/power-off game, shutting it off, then turning it back on, taking a couple shots through the viewfinder (which displays EXACTLY what the camera shoots!), lather, rinse, repeat.
Pictures are clean and clear, and despite no control over exposure, I've rarely had to re-shoot anything.
Reviewing pics taken is quick and easy, and zooming in on pix already taken is likewise simple and fast. Lag time is low.
