Pros: Looks, small size, great colour balance and exposure, excellent flash shots, good software, ease-of-use.
Cons: Variable lens quality. Colour fringing on white areas. Broke down after three months.
The Bottom Line: I like the features and pics but can not recommend this camera due to my bad experiences. I expect better from Minolta.

The first camera had a focus problem at the left-hand side of frame. I returned it. The second camera had a nice sharp lens but had a faint diagonal green smear that was especially noticeable on blue skies (not at all in other shots). I returned it.
Overall sharpness on the third camera was way below the previous two and below the sample images I'd seen in reviews on the web. In fact I don't think it was focusing at infinity correctly at all. I took it back the same day and asked for the camera with the green smear back.
I put up with that for a couple of weeks and then suddenly it stopped working in camera mode ('system error'). Couldn't even turn off the power. Took it back to the shop and got a refund.
I shall miss it. I loved the camera: the retro styling, the feel of it, the facilities, the great colour and spot-on exposure. However this all means nothing with such unreliability and such variable lens quality. You just don't know what you are going to get. I would never buy another one.
My Pentax SLR is 24 years old. My Olympus 35RC is 30 years old -- both still going strong. This was my first Minolta and I suspect my last! I am buying a Canon Powershot A70 instead.
