Overall my Minolta DiMAGE G500 does the job. It's a 5 Mega Pixel digital camera, and the colors it captures are very bright yet natural. The images are exceptionally sharp, and the CCD is very sensitive: you can take fairly decent pictures under limited lighting conditions without a flash if you need.
The stainless steel case is very durable: I've dropped my camera a few times on hard enough surfaces without suffering any damage.
As far as I see, this camera only has just a couple of drawbacks:
1. Red eyes, despite red eye reduction mode. This is not such a big deal for a digital camera, since there is a lot of red eye reduction software out there (I got my bundled with an HP printer).
2. This camera is very susceptible to movement, but I suspect this is a problem that plagues most of the mid-range digital cameras.
