| analogjam's Full Review: Mitsubishi HS-U778 VHS VCR |
Had a JVC HRS-3911 S-VHS vcr. The JVC recording quality level was sorta kinda almost better than what you see from any plain Jane VHS vcr, even though S-video inputs were used.
I needed an S-VHS vcr for recording broadcast content programing. so while visiting the editing suite of the broadcast studio I notice a program that was eye watering clear. Asked if it was DV, Nope, S-vhs. Found out the program was recorded on a Mitsubishi S-VHS vcr. The JVC made tapes that look like 5th generation copies compared to the Mitsubishi.
Found a Mit u778 vcr at a local Audio/Video shop. Open box, last years (2003/4) model, $199.00 out the door. Bought it anyway.
I copied program content from my computer, thru S_video jacks, onto the mit-u778 and compared it to the same program recorded on the JVC S-vhs vcr. The JVC vcr hit the trash.
The Mitsu produced broadcast quality recordings. Clear color distinction, no video noise (That plagued the JVC deck), very good sound reproduction. the Mitsu has something called "perfectape". It checks the quality of the tape that is about to be played or recorded. This is an added feature to enhance the picture qulity.
On the down side, the remote is hard to hold and operate. It seems to be set for two hand operation, deffinately not for single hand use thumb type operation.
