The Mitsubishi VS-6011 is a 60 inch TV in the regular format of 4:3 and not the Widescreen of 16:9. Not everyone is ready for a Widescreen so here is an excellent Big Screen TV that can be used for a Home Theater System. This is a HD (High Definition )-Upgradeable Projection Television with a retail price of $2499 and can be found in the $2000 range.

Mitsubishi promises you that if you buy any of their HD-Upgradeable TVs they will offer upgradeability to future television technologies even if it is not on the market yet!
Bottom Line: You will be able to up-grade this TV anytime you wish, now or in the future.
~~~The Mitsubishi VS-6011~~~
The TV is ready for High Definition display with 1080i full screen and 810i Letterboxed display. With two Component Video Inputs you can view with 480i, 480p and1080i.
The VS-6011 has a sharp and crystal clear picture because of their Diamond Vision precision optical system with MicroFine Phosphor CRTs. Mitsubishi uses an extra-fine phosphor coating with a phosphor crystal size that is 20% smaller than that of their competitors. This means a much better picture!
PIP & POP
This TV offers you PIP (Picture inside Picture) and POP (Picture outside Picture) for your convenience. You can also split the TV in half with one channel on one side and another channel on the other side.
PIP gives you a small picture on the same picture and you can move it around to different locations.
POP is a little different, it lets you have ¾ of the screen with one picture and it will POP 3 more pictures on the other ¼ of the screen. Then you can also show ½ the screen with a picture and the other half has 9 different channels that POP into it. POP is great for if you want to see what is going on at different channels.
Display Formats
The VS-6011 has four screen formats, Standard, Expand, Zoom and Letterbox.
The Standard is made for viewing regular programming in the 4:3 format.
The Expand is only available if you have a 1080i broadcast, it enlarges the picture and crops off some of the sides.
The Zoom is used to enlarge the picture and will remove the bottom and top bars when viewing a Widescreen show or movie.
The Letterbox is also for 1080i only and adds gray bars on the top and bottom, it will show it in 810i.
V-Chip
The V-Chip is so you can control what is being watched by setting the ratings of your choice. You can place in a four digit code that can be activated with the remote so it can not be changed.
Menu
The Mitsubishi VS-6011 uses an on-screen menu system that makes it easy for you to set up the TV for your preferences.
The Remote
The remote is almost identical to the remote on my Mitsubishi 73 inch HD-Upgradeable Television with the exception of a Home Theater button being on my 73 inch TV.
It is a programmable remote for a cable box, satellite box, DTV, VCR, DVD and Audio.
The layout is pretty good and the switch on the side of it is in the best place because every time you pick up the remote it lights up the main buutons.
The remote uses two AAA batteries included.
The Connections
There are two inputs with a S-Video on each and RCA Video and Stereo RCA inputs on each.
Next you have two Component inputs with Stereo audio RCA inputs on each.
There is one DTV input made to hook in a HDTV tuner like the The Samsung SIR-T151 HDTV Terrestrial Receiver.
Then you have Monitor output with video and audio RCA jacks.
Finally there is an antenna A & B plus a Loop OUT that sends the Antenna A to another device like a VCR.
In the front of the TV you have RCA inputs for stereo audio, video and an S-Video input. This is a handy place to plug your camcorder or digital camera into.
~~~Overall~~~
Myself I prefer the Widescreen of 16:9 verses the old style of 4:3 that this model is. By 2006 all stations have to broadcast in HD and about five years after that our current type of TV reception will be turned off. Still that is sometime down the road if they don’t change their mind.
For those of you who prefer the 4:3, (4:3=for every 4 inches horizontal the screen is 3 inches vertical.) the Mitsubishi VS-6011 is an excellent TV with beautiful clear color. The built-in speakers produce plenty of quality stereo sound that will please you.
I do recommend for good picture quality to have digital cable, a satellite system or an HDTV tuner. A regular antenna connection and non-digital cable will probably disappoint you because of the poor quality they produce.
All you need to go with this TV is a nice 5.1 receiver and five satellite speakers and a powered subwoofer. Now you are setup for you own Home Theater System.
Mitsubishi is a leader in the Projection Televisions, I highly recommend this one.
