| bobz3's Full Review: Mitsubishi WS-65807 65 in. TV |
This set is fantastic.
It all started about 12 months ago when my wife and I set out to replace our 27" TV with a 36" model. We shopped around at Best Buy and Circuit City and saw what they had to offer. We then went on into Tweeter. Our salesman at Tweeter educated us on the finer points of all of the televisions that are available to buy. He wanted us to make an informed decision based on factual information. He did not push us in one direction or another at all.
After learning about the various options that we had to explore, we discovered that a good quality 36" set would run us about $1300.00. We reasoned that at this price, a big screen was only a few dollars more. So we took a look at the big screen sets and discovered that a good quality 60" set would run us about $2300.00. We reasoned that at this price, a High Definition big screen was only a few dollars more. So we took a look at the High Definition big screen sets and discovered that a good quality 55" HDTV set would run us about $3000.00. We reasoned that at this price, a 65" High Definition big screen was only $500.00 dollars more..... Needless to say, we fell in love with the WS-65807 and bought it that day.
We were dissappointed to learn that they could not deliver it for 2 weeks! So we spent the next 2 weeks preparing for our set to arrive. This included clearing off a large spot for this set.
When the set arrived, it was immense. It looked much larger than it did at the store. When it was hooked up to our cable we turned it on and were dissappointed at the poor picture quality. Remembering what we learned at Tweeter, we already knew that to get the best picture we needed the HDTV digital decoder.
All in all the set is great, lots of features, no troubles at all except for the damage to our wall the delivery people did when they tried to bring it into our home.
We now have the matching Mitsubishi SR-HD500 satellite and HD decoder setup and the set really rocks! Also, a progressive scan DVD player is a must.
