Pros: Gigantic screen size, excellent HDTV tuner built in, Great value.
Cons: Netcommand set-up is a little intimidating.
The Bottom Line: This is hands down the most sophisticated TV on the market and Mitsubishi is definitely making the statement that they are the best in the projection TV industry.

| johnofjr's Full Review: Mitsubishi WS-73909 73 in. TV |
There is no other way to describe this set. It is truly massive. Introducing the Mitsubishi WS73909. This is the biggest projection television in the world. It is also the only TV that utilizes 9" CRT's (cathode ray tubes) which give it a razor sharp picture that is out of this world.
The WS73909 is also quite a beauty to look at. It has a beautiful cabinet that is of Yurishi (Japanese) finish and the Mitsubishi name on the front is finished in gold plate.
When you walk into the store, there is no mistaking that this is the biggest, baddest TV to be seen, period. The picture is so clear and so sharp from corner to corner that it actually makes the images look incredibly lifelike. My favorite thing to watch on this TV is the swimming highlights from the 2000 Summer Olympics. You can actually see every droplet of water on the swimmers' faces as they get out of the pool. The aqua blue water is so clear and razor sharp that you get a sense of coolness and almost feel like you can touch the water right on the screen. The TV was on the HD Net channel and I promise you there is absolutely no distortion whatsoever. The TV features a Diamond-Brite shield that greatly enhances the picture while reducing glare at the same time. The set has a 100 degree viewing angle that allows a person watching it from the side to get a great shot of the screen without the picture being distorted. The speaker system in the set is much better than it has to be, but I imagine with a set this size, anyone that buys it would definitely hook it up to a home theater system to get the full effect. The most incredible thing about the set is when it struts its' stuff during playback of a DVD movie. An excellent movie to watch on this set is "Gladiator" and one of the most beautiful works of cinematography was the scene where it showed the camera scanning across the pasture of the Gladiator's home. A progressive scan DVD is a must in order to appreciate what this set is capable of doing. The menu was very easy to navigate once you get through the initial NetCommand setup, (which can be a little challenging if you are not electronically inclined). The remote control was very easy to use, also. The owner's manual is very user friendly if you don't mind reading. The TV allows you to incorporate all of your Home Entertainment components into the set and use the TV remote to operate all equipment. Some components are in the TV database, but those that are not can be operated by using the included IR repeaters as long as your components have remote sensors.
This TV is for the very enthusiastic home entertainment buff, hands down. It was $10,000 when it was introduced early this year, but now you can find it for under $8,000.
After watching movies and sports (especially outdoor sports) on this set, nothing else in a projection TV will ever be enough for you.
If you are a serious TV watcher that loves to have the very best that you can get in a TV, this is the one for you.
ENJOY!!!
