Found this HDTV Widescreen at The Good Guys on sale for $999.99. Picture is awesome. Remote (although quite large)gives FULL control for everything you need. I was able to instantly match it to my DVD player, VCR, and satellite receiver. I was however told the replacement cost for the remote alone would be around $150.00 (this was not confirmed).
Picture gives you the option of Standard, Expanded, Zoom, Stretch and the cut-off side bars. One positive is that the bars are grey vs. the standard black which is a little more subtle for watching standard TV stations. With the side bars, the picture is the size you would get with a standard 35" TV. (Which is decent size in itself!)
The hook-ups were very straight forward, plentiful and located on the right-hand side of the set. (See specifications for full connectors available.)
The remote allows you to manually set the convergence if for any reason it has been disturbed during transit or set-up. There is the initial single-point setting and the an option for an advanced setting utilizing a grid and 64 points to fine-tune the convergence. Very impressive!
There is also a set of controls in the front of the set. And there is a input for a video camera or other input device hidden by a flip-door in the front of the set.
Sound is okay with either Standard, Stereo, or Surround Sound settings. I will be hooking-up a home theater system soon, but for now, I definitely can handle the sound quality.
My wife loves the look of this widescreen as it is fairly stylish and does not overwelm the room. (16'x28')
My only negative as of this time is the Owner"s Manual. It does not have detailed enough guidelines to step you through certain aspects of control functions. It is quite general and you must interpret some instructions.
