| rdyrbye's Full Review: LG Flatron L1511S 15 inch LCD Monitor |
This monitor is an excellent entry level Flat panel monitor. The price point, and more importantly, the reliability of this monitor make it a best buy in the 15" LCD screen category.
The monitor features:
Excellent resolution. I run mine @ 1024x768 @ 32Million colours. The screen is crisp, clear and easy to read. Text looks clean and not fuzzy like other monitors. Note that this monitor in 800x600 is NOT as clear, and there is minor text blurring. LG recommends a minimum of 1024x768, higher resolutions are possible, 1280x1024 also looks excellent, but that is about as good as it gets on my video card.
Excellent reliability. I work for a Point of sale software and hardware vendor, and we have several hundred of these monitors all across canada. So far the return rate has been less than 2%, which is much lower than the CRT monitors we use. I could not recommend a monitor any more than this one, I am extremely impressed with its durability and reliability.
On screen display. This allows you to set all the screen sizes, correct and warping in the display, degauss, setup pincushions, basically everything you need to make your image look perfect. For those of us who are less technically inclined, the "auto setup" button does a GREAT JOB! This is what I use.
Ease of use. Just connect the power and the monitor cord to your PC, and you are ready to go! Because the monitor supports many different refresh rates, you will not get a frozen or unreadable screen like you used to when you switched monitors. One more note on refresh rates, HIGHER IS BETTER! With an LCD monitor, you will get a far crisper, better quality image if you move the refresh rate up from window's default of 60Hz. I run mine at 100Hz, and the screen looks amazing. You can do this in the advanced settings for your monitor. A monitor running at 100Hz refreshes a screen approximately 65% faster than at 60Hz. This means you have a much clearer image and crisper.
Enviro-friendly. This monitor only takes 28W of electricity to run. Compare that to a 5 year old 17"CRT, and this monitor is over 10X more effecient. This will save you a few dollars every year on power consumption. Stand By mode reduces power to 3W.
Built in power adaptor. This means you dont have a big AC adaptor to plug in or a box on the wire. It's all inside the monitor.
Great warranty. 3 years parts and labour. However, it is hard to get processed online. Bring it to a service centre for faster service.
Overall, I really recommend this monitor because of the quality of build, ease of use, and great reliability. 10/10.
