I built my first machine by myself, and through the advice of many gaming magazines, I picked the Abit be6 II. I wanted the most bang for my buck and the ability to upgrade later if I wanted to. While this motherboard is not any lower priced than the normal board, I felt this was not a component I was willing to skimp on. I also liked that it had ATA 66 support onboard, other boards I was considering did not. The abbility to change clock speeds in the bios without opening the box is also a big plus.
One downfall of this board is it only has one ISA slot. I know most components are being made for PCI, but, I still have some ISA cards I wanted to put in the new machine. I also wish it was easier to upgrade the bios. I feel that all software updates should be painless.
I have no other complaints about this board, it is working just fine for me.
