Great board for little cash

The Bottom Line: Easy to configure for someone who is not real computer-savy and quick to set up(about 10 minutes total install)

Personally I have always liked FIC mainboards. After owning several of them, and never had a problem with any of them, I decided to buy another. I found this board at a local show with a Athlon K7 700mhz for $125! So I had to buy it. It took me about 10 minutes to take my old board out of my machine and install this one. The board is definitely huge but went in quite easy.
There is 3 memory slots onboard(which is nice, because a lot of later boards only have 2)and the board will handle up to a 1G mhz Athlon chip, so there is room for expansion. I downloaded the latest flash ROM after getting it up and running and had absolutely no problems doing the flash.
This board supports 100mhz memory, but that is fine since you do not want to run 133mhz memory with the Athlon chips anyhow because it will make no difference seeing the Athlon architecture is 200mhz, and the 100mhz is a direct derivative of that. 133mhz memory is strictly for Pentium boards, and is not a derivative of 200mhz so that is why it is Pentium memory and not for Athlons.
I am currently using a 250watt power supply and it works great even though AMD recomends 300mhz for maximum efficiency. The fan on this chip needs to be a dual-fan since this chip runs extremely HOT! You should never try to overclock an Athlon chip due to this heat problem, because it WILL cause pre-mature failure to both the chip and the motherboard. So with this board you will not have that opportunity to overclock because it does not offer the option. Everything on the board is configurable in the BIOS, and the Athlon speed and memory size are self-finding.
If you are looking for a great Athlon board at a reasonable price then I highly recomend this one!
