I got a quote that was $100 cheaper than Penske. I've had good experiences with Penske before, but have never used Budget.
I've also used UHaul and wondered how a company can get away with such poor maintenance and still be in business. Anyway, onto Budget:
The next day I called Budget back to reserve the truck and they gave me a runnaround. When I complained about them being rude, they hung up on me.
Hung up on by a major company? This should have been the end of it, but I called back anyway.
The rep would not pursue the complaint. They said such a person didn't work there. Then they said the quote expired at midnight. Then they said they rudely said that they wouldn't match the quote from yesterday.
I insisted, telling them that they were about to lose a customer for life. They submitted, rudely.
Then I got off the phone and reconsidered what had happened. I looked over reviews both on this site and others. Many people complained of rude and unhelpful customer service at Budget, especially on the move day.
Forget it. I paid $100 more to Penske.
Moving is stressful enough, I'm not going to be worried about Budget's poor service record.
