Pros: Nice Design, Compact.
Cons: Very bad sound quality, cassette player or Discman gives better quality.
The Bottom Line: I recommend that you do not purchase a product as expensive as this one for the amount of quality you get. You are better of with a cassette player(walkman).

| ultharry's Full Review: Mpio FD100 (256 MB) MP3 Player |
This is my first MP3-player ever so I haven't been able to compare it with any others. I however have several discmans.
Design:
The first thing that I noticed was the small design of the player. Of course there are smaller MP3-players, but I find this one both stylish and compact. The reason why I chose this one is the expandable memory and the long use of batteries.
Sound quality:
Unfortunately the sound quality is very very bad, for soft music like classical, country and other slow types of music with low use of bass it is a good player. Ones you want to hear a song where the bass is important like for example rock or trance even a cassette player gives better quality of bass sound. My old sony Discman gives a very good bass sound, and that thing is over 5 years old. I don't get why this version of Mpio has got such a bad sound quality, the purpose of this device is to give yourself some nice hearing pleasure, when instead it gives you frustration that you spent so much money on this thing and don't even get a slightly satisfying quality of sound..
The file transferring is also very frustrating. I use this MP3-player as file carrier as well. If I want to use the files stored on the MP3-player on a computer other then my own I have to bring the installation CD and install the whole manager. Since most of the public computers are write protected, it is impossible to install programs. So basically it is only usable on your own computer. Other MP3-players dont have to install this software at all, windows or mac computers simply recognise the storage media and lets you transfer files without having to install anything.
My advice is, if you have an old cassette player or Discman, stick to that, it gives you better quality.
