| joshuabrand's Full Review: Mpio FY200 (128 MB) MP3 Player |
I've tried several inexpensive digital music players to use for running, all of which had problems and I was forced to return them. Then I decided to try out MPIO products. I've certainly learned that when it comes to mp3 players, you get what you pay for.
There were 4 main features that affected my decision to purchase this player and made it a better choice for me than other players. The first was the small size. This player is about the size of a cigarette lighter. Small size makes it less noticeable when I'm running. Next, the player came with an arm band. The arm band combined with the small size makes for a player that is very un-impeding when you're exercising.
Next, it came with a built-in fm radio with more than sufficient receiver quality, which is nice for when you've gone through all your music files. Lastly, the player has the ability to record voice, record from the fm radio, or even record off the headphone connection using it as a line-in connection. Overall, it has a good feature set.
Sound was also good, and combined with the sound effects and equalizer, it makes for a spectacular sounding player. Add that to the fact that it comes with 2 sets of earbuds, a necklace, belt clip, two types of USB connectors, a case, and an arm band and you have a really awesome player that beats out most other solid state players.
There is only one complaint I have about this player. On the packaging, it claims that it can be used as a USB mass storage device. While this is true, you must upgrade the firmware by downloading the latest firmware from the MPIO site. While not a big deal, it is somewhat confusing and it should have been a mass storage device right out of the package.
When it comes down to it, if you need something to keep you entertained while you're working out, get this player. It's a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth the price.
