Pros: Fun, teaches good skills
I bought the My Disney Kitchen PC game for my daughter a while ago. I saw it in the store. I was not really looking for a new game for her. I was looking for a game for a gift for my nephew. However, when I saw the My Disney Kitchen PC game, I knew it would be a great game for my six year old daughter to play. She is a huge fan of Minnie Mouse.
Where to buy it and how much I paid for the game:
I went to the store near by me here in Rhode Island. It is called Game Stop. It was an open box buy, there fore it only cost me $10.00 for the My Disney Kitchen PC game . The price was very fair. You really can't beat a price like that for a Disney game like this. I was more then happy to pay for it.
Details, requirements, how to install and how to play:
The game requirements are that you should have a Pentium-class processor, it must be 90 MHz or faster. You need about 16MB RAM, 30MB free hard disk space, 16-bit color video display, 16-bit sound, Quad-speed (4x) CD-ROM drive, a Windows-compatible mouse, and a standard AT 101 keyboard.
To instal it is rather easy. Just pop the game in. You will see a screen pop up that says continue. Click that continue button and the game starts to install. It places the game on your C drive with a desk top icon for easy access. Now there will be another screen that says finish. Click the finish button and you are now ready to play. You can register the game now or click register later and just go play the game.
To play is easy too. This game is for children who are roughly ages three through seven. Although I think from 4 up would be a better fit. Just because it is hard for little ones to get the hang of using the mouse properly. Yet a mom or dad could sit and do it with a younger child if they wanted to. My daughter is age six like I mentioned above. She has no trouble at all playing the My Disney Kitchen PC game.
All you have to do is learn your way around you kitchen. You first start the game by entering your name. Then you go ahead in to your kitchen. You will find items in there such as ingredients for cooking, recipes, a cook book, utensils used for stirring and cooking, Mixing bowls, pans, an oven, a fridge, cabinets and more.
You can choose a recipe and start cooking. Your neighbors Minnie and Mickey will come by to help you make what ever you have chosen to make. So if it is the chicken for instance. You will have to choose the recipe for it. And follow the word/picture icons on the list of ingredients. You then ahve to go around the kitchen and find these items. Once you find them you will be given word/picture details on how to put the ingredients together. In this case it would be spices and things of that nature.
You then have to choose the pan. It is pictured so you know which one it is, you just need to look for it. After you do that, you turn the knob on the oven and put the chicken in the oven when you hear the beep. Now you await it to cook. When it is done you should find your oven mitts. Then you take the chicken out and enjoy it with your Disney friends.
The whole game is played this way. Just following recipes, finding objects and ingredients, measuring with the measuring cup. It is learning while having fun really. You can cook meals, bake yummy foods or just sit back and watch many clips from major Disney movies. There are clips from Cinderella, Mickey and friends, Pooh and many more that you can watch through out your game play. This certainly makes it more fun.
You can also unlock new recipes, or find them tucked in certain places with in the kitchen. The game is not lacking in the entertainment department at all. There is a lot of mouse use and some key board use through out this game as well. Your child should either know how to use these or you should assist them until they do know so that the game is more enjoyable for them.
My opinions, thoughts and recommendation:
The My Disney Kitchen PC game has been bringing my daughter tons of fun for months. They deal with real measurments and real recipes. My daughter has even tried her hand at the real thing after learning them on the game. Of course I watch her. But this just shows me that she is paying attention while she is playing, and she is really learning as well. She knows the difference between a TSP and a TS in abreviations. Gosh, I don't think I knew that until I was 13 years old or so.
This game has good picture. It is clear and there are many vibrant colors. You feel like you are really in a kicthen. There is nothing left out, believe me. The sound is good too. There is light music that plays through game play. It is not too loud and can be shut off if you want. Youc an do this under the options. The characters don't sound robotic like some games tend to sound. They sound like the real cartoon shows.
Since playing My Disney Kitchen PC game, my little girl has taken a real interest in cooking. This is some thing that I am very pleased with. We can cook together and it sure is nice to have help by my side. She is more observant to where things belong in the kitchen as well. This game has brough her many hours of fun. It is the first thing she wants to do when she gets home from school each day. I highly aprove of her playing any game that will help her learn new things.
My daughter does not get bored with this game. She likes that there are always new recipes to learn and new ones to find through the game as she plays it. I would have to say that this is one of the best childrens games that I have purchased in a very long time. I do very highly recommend buying the My Disney Kitchen PC game. You certainly will get your money worth with this game. It is fun.
