| rsimanski's Full Review: NAD C350 2-Channel Amplifier |
I have had my NAD 350 amp for five years now. It replaced a Sony receiver that was rated at 80 watts per channel. My speakers are a pair of Polk LS 120 studio monitors, which are huge and require a lot of power. The Sony was never able to drive them properly.
The NAD 350 is rated at only 60 watts per channel, but in the most conservative way possible--continuous power at up to 110 db at inaudible distortion. I hooked it up to my system and set the volume control at a very low nine o'clock position to be safe, then I put on a new Pavarotti CD.
My jaw dropped! I picked up at least one octave at the bottom end and the whole house was filled with sound--even though I had hooked the speakers up incorrectly and only one channel was putting out sound. I put pieces of white tape on the volume control knob and the 11 o'clock position on the black facade, with a note not to go beyond that point or I might break a window or something. I finally had the system that I had been dreaming about for 40 years.
If you care only about price, buy something from Best Buy, Circuit City, or whatever. If you want the best value for your money, however, find a place that sells NAD.
