| anarchris's Full Review: NAD T773 6.1 Channels Receiver |
i've tried denon's 1705 and 3805 and yamaha's rx v595 and nad is definitely a different sound. i've heard nad on kep and psb speakers as well as my paradigm 11semk3's and mini monitors.i've seen it called warm but i find neutral is more appropriate. warm suggests that it emphasizes the bottom end but that would have some mistakenly believe that it lacks detail. you'll hear things at the top end you wouldn't with other amps but this refinement also means the bass and percussion sounds may not be satisfying for some like me. it is accurate with voices, brass instruments (though perhaps not richly so), strings are smoother than yamaha but not necessarily absolutely authentic. i agree with reviews that say nad does what it should by simply reproducing sound accurately but not adding colour but perhaps it removes something for refinements sake at the expense of excitement or sweetness that i favour. some claim the speaker posts are difficult to work with but i found them easier than denon's to use with 10 gauge wire.
