Cons: Color results in AUTO, Bulky battery charger, NO AC adapter, No memory card included.
The Bottom Line: OK if you have the time to play with manual settings in order to get natural colors of your subjects. Great for the average point-n-shoot individual.
maxjet38's Full Review: Nikon COOLPIX 5200 Digital Camera
After 2 1/2 years, my Olympus D510 (2MP) decided to give me the boot. Them extended warranties do come in handy. After spending nearly 3 hours looking at every compact camera Best Buys had on display, I was stuck between the Sony DSCP150 and the Nikon, and purchased the Nikon. The Nikon is definitely built solid, has excellent appeal, very easy to use considering I'm just a point-n-shoot "profesional". I love the screen size and the clarity of the display. The menu is very straight foward and easy to navigate. I thought I got myself a neat little camera BUT the real test are the pictures. The minute you turn the camera ON, it's very fast to deploy the lens and my stopwatch says 2.5 seconds from ON to Picture. Flash strength definetely a plus; the onboard 12MB memory is also a plus; Image quality is great BUT color is somehow dissapointing. The AUTO function really doesn't do a good job in AUTO; My 9 yr old's dark brown hair became light-reddish brown. His light face became pink and the red-eye reduction is virtually non functional. Too much flash?...ok lets cancel the flash, indoor lights and the results were the same. My old D510 at 2 MP took better pictures in AUTO but this 5 MP needs "manual" adjustments if you want natural colors of your subject. CONCLUSION: The 5200 has been repackaged, the Sony is my next target.
