| jnaglich's Full Review: Broan-NuTone CV450 Central Bagged Central System V... |
When we decided to renovate our 25 year old home there were two things that we wanted most, a new kitchen and a built in vac. We have been using the Nutone system for over 4 years now and it does a great job. The supplier did a good job of matching the size of the unit to our needs and it has preformed very well.
The use of a central vac system eliminates the recirculation of dust within the house because the vented air is outside the living space so the tiny particles that pass through the bag are vented outside instead of staying inside as they do with portables.
Most of the noise stays outside too since the motor is located outside the home. There is still plenty of sound as the air is pulled through the hose but no where near the noise one hears with a portable vac.
We had our contractor put the system in and it was the first he had done in a remodeling situation. He was trying to use a minimum of outlets to save us money but he almost did too good a job since there are a couple of areas where the vac just barely reaches and the hose must not be blocked by furniture or it will not be able to reach the fartherest locations. We should have had at least one or two more outlets for convenience of operation.
We installed the dust pan outlet option and are very happy with it. It is in the kitchen island and it very handy for crumb and spill cleanup in that area. We put one outlet in the carport area which is great for cleaning our cars.
This is a good option for any home. Be sure to get good advise in the design and layout of the system before installing it. The only negative experiences I have heard involved "do it yourself " situations and the system was underpowered or the layout of the outlets was poor. Properly done this is well worth the money in my opinion.
