Pros: Stylish, compact, inexpensive, clear pics, easy-to-use, with remote switch & software included.
Cons: Shorter battery life.
The Bottom Line: No worries with this camera. I would recommend it. Nice features without the expense or complexities of others. Good for beginners and intermediates. Buy a second battery, too.

| chgosparky's Full Review: Olympus Stylus 410 / µ 410 Digital Camera |
My very first 35mm was an Olympus OM-1. Now my first Digital is an Olympus Stylus 410. I see a pattern...somewhere. It's compact, stylish, waterproof(haven't tried dunking it in water yet), an inexpensive for a 4 megapixel unit. It has a nice feel to it, but if it were any smaller, my fingers/hand would be too big for it.
The pics are great in the 640x480 mode, however in HQ and SHQ(2272x1704) they are fuzzy when handheld. Tried using a tripod and they are much better.
It's a little more challenging using macro mode with the digital zoom setting. Can only take SQ 640x480 clearly. The 2048x 1636 is acceptable. Still having HQ problems with clarity snapping zoom macro pics. I really don't have much need to take HQ zoom macro pics, do you?
Battery life is rather short. Get a spare. Recharge time is 2 hrs. The batter power symbol is helpful, but only gives you about 5-6 minutes before it shuts off.
The Screen/menu is easy to read indoors, but outdoors is a little difficult(glare). Easily solved however with a some shade.
The remote switch is not referenced in the manual and the icon on the menu is obscure. Had to call Olympus and they were responsive and I had it working with them still on the phone. There is another manual on the Olympus web site that is more detailed than the one provided in the box.
The Camedia Master software is easy, cleanly installs, and eliminates the need for a docking station. It lacks the abilities of other software to crop, rotate, change palette colors, shrink, enlarge, etc., but works well for the first time user.
The movie sound is not bad, but could be better. It works, but if you are serious...get a digital Camcorder.
Overall, I'm pleased and would recommend the Stylus 410 to beginners and intermediate camera enthusiasts. It's a simple to use camera that takes great photos indoors and out.
