| nobleday's Full Review: Olympus Stylus 410 / µ 410 Digital Camera |
I purchased this camera for my husband to use in documenting work he is doing in construction. I picked this camera because of the hard cover that slides over the lens, compact size (it fits into his pocket or tool belt) and the 4.0 MP.
The only digital camera experience I had was my Sony FD75 Mavica. The best things are that it uses the floppy disk and the battery is easy to remove and recharges quickly. So, I was hoping for something with similar ease.
The memory stick in the Olympus camera is just as easy, probably more because you don't have to take it in and out. The camera has a cord that plugs right into a USB port on the front of my computer. I purchased one size larger stick, but find the 32MB that came with it would have been enough for our purposes. I just move them onto my hard drive.
I wasn't happy when I had to copy them over and then erase them one by one but found I can go to My Computer, open the camera as an attached device, and move them rather than copy them. Faster and more convenient.
The battery holds a good charge, so no problem there.
My camera is 3 megapixel, his 4. After printing photos on Kodak paper, his are slightly more crisp. I don't have to use my software to adjust the picture as often.
What do I hate? Well, I guess I'd say the menu choices are a bit confusing. I'd have to use the camera A LOT to know what each thing is. I had to look up which icon was for the macro so I could use the close-up feature.
