| brycenn's Full Review: Olympus Stylus 410 / µ 410 Digital Camera |
I've had 2 Olympus cameras... a film camera decades ago, and a Stylus Zoom. Oddly, both had the exact same defect -- a overly sensitive switch that makes it all but impossible to hand the camera to someone else (the person you hand the camera to always hits the switch and turns it off).
Now, it's died. And come to find I'm far from the only person with the same problem. That overly sensitive cover switch? Yep. 100's of broken cameras with the same problem on eBay. See http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17519 .
But actually I hated the camera right from the start. It replaced a stolen Cannon PowerShot. But the LCD is not as good, the cover switch is a pain, and images not as good even though they take nearly twice the storage space. Bad menus, and it just goes on and on.
---
But there are two nice things: the camera plugs in as as USB storage drive... there are no special drivers required... just copy pictures to or from the camera. And it's water resistant, which is a big advantage if you ever take the camera outdoors for any reason (or even near the bath, if you have children).
Overall this camera gets two big thumbs down, to the point where I will not purchase Olympus again.
