Pros: Replaced three remotes completely by utilizing the IR learning feature.
Cons: Documentation has very tiny print and some typos. Download the PDF manual.
The Bottom Line: My advice is buy it because it works and it's not over-priced.

| box134's Full Review: One For All URC-8811 Remote Control |
I've purchased three OneForAll remotes in my life. The first was an ancient URC 4060B06, which I still use, a Kameleon URC-9960 (a big mistake), and now the URC-8811.
My motivation in buying the URC-8811 was to replace the URC-9960 (read my review) which was so annoying that it was unusable. I stayed with OneForAll because I knew how they functioned as far as programming was concerned.
I have a plain vanilla setup; Toshiba TV, Toshiba VCR, and Sony DVD player. The codes in the remote for the TV covered most of the basic functions. One that was missing was the ability to scroll picture settings. I inserted those using the IR learning feature. In fact, I was able to reproduce all the oddball controls for my equipment using the IR learning capability.
One thing should be emphasized; the remote has four unlabelled " learning " keys. What the documentation doesn't tell you is that almost any key can used as a " learning " key, giving you great flexibility.
I was very pleasantly surprised to find that while in TV mode the VCR buttons still operated correctly. This saves me a lot of switching back and forth between modes. And for VCR mode I " learned " the PIP functions to their respective keys. Again, this saves me the bother of switching to TV mode to use the PIP function.
This remote should be very energy efficient. The buttons illuminate only if you wish it. In fact, I think the basic engine for this remote is probably the same as the pricier OneForAll remotes.
All in all, this is an excellent remote. Only cost $39 where I live. If you don't give a damn about "cool" and are looking for a powerful, inexpensive remote, give the URC-8811 a look!
