$25 Bonus Got Me Hooked

Pros: who can complain about $10 referral bonus?
Cons: difficult to change link to your checking acct, if ya cancel original account
The Bottom Line: I joined this because of the $25 promotion they were having and found excellent support, hours and security.

Like many internet users, I am always looking for a way to earn additional money. A friend of mine pointed out that ING Direct was offering a bonus of $25 if you joined before May 31st. The catch was you had to deposit at least $5 from your own checking account. In addition they are offering a $10 bonus for referrals until the 31st. I figured there was nothing to lose. Only later did I learn all the valuable features this company has to offer.
My $25 was deposited without any problem. The security to transfer my funds was excellent and the $25 was in my account within 24 hours. My first and only problem came when I tried to refer a friend of mine to receive the bonus $10. You can only refer people while you are logged into your account. So I sent him this special email to join. This email is confusing as it has not one link to join but 2. My friend being a veteran of the net inadvertently chose the wrong link and was not credited the $25. Needless to say I didn't get my $10. So I called the company ready to scream and yell and the person who answered the phone was very helpful and within 24 hours the whole matter was straightened out. I received my $10 and my referral got his $25.
After my wonderful experience with customer support, I decided to take a look at the features offered by this bank.
They offer two different types of personal accounts. Customers choose between individual and joint account.
Their APY is 5.00% and interest rate is 4.89% regardless of how much money you have in your account. You do have to keep some money in the account as I found out when I tried to withdraw all my funds. I had to leave $5 in the account.
Account Opening: It's very simple to open an account. Customers can mail a check from their personal account or can transfer the money online via ACH. (automated clearing house)
Security: Their security is excellent. They require you to enter both a pin and your client id number before releasing any of your information. To get a pin, you call the company and they transfer you to a machine where you can pick your own pin number.
Account Access: You can get information on your account online or you can call them at their toll free number.
Business hours: They are open from 7:00 am EST to 11:00 pm EST. These are excellent hours and is accommodating for those who work regular business hours. In addition, they are open 7 days a week. They can be reached by dialing 1-800-ING-DIRECT or online www.ingdirect.com.
I recommend this to anyone looking for an online bank. Their customer support and hours available are excellent. Security is also very tight. The fact that right now they are still offering the bonus to join and referral bonus certainly doesn't hurt. Join now as the bonus is only good till September 30th.
