I received Fix-it Utilities 2000 as a gift this year. This program has everything to fix problems with your system and keep them from occurring in the first place. It has utilities to clean and optimize your hard drive, work with your system registry, check and clean viruses, prevent computer crashes, customize windows, and much more more. Each of the utilities is grouped into several categories.

I will now tell you more about what exactly Fix-it Utilities does:

Disk and Files: In this group of utilities, you can keep your hard drive running in tip-top shape. The utilities include:

1. Defrag Plus: This utility defrags your hard drive. I used to used the defrag program that comes with Windows 98, and sometimes it would take forever to do. With Defrag Plus, the defrag process would take under 30 minutes for all three of my hard drives.

2. Disk cleaner: This utility goes through your hard drive, and cleans out old or obsolete files.

3. System Saver: This program backs up your critical system files in case hard drive or other problems occurs.

4. Disk Snapshot: Takes an image of your FAT allocation tables or boot sectors in case problems occur.

5. Disk Fixer: This utility finds and fixes hard drive damage.

6. File Undeleter: This program can help recover files that you have deleted by accident.

7, Disk Verifier: This utility can help you verify if files on removable media such as CD's or floppies are accessible.

The System Registry: In this group of utilities you will find everything you need to work with your system registry.

1. Registry Fixer: Will repair problems in your system registry.

2. Registry Cleaner: This system will clean out old and obsolete entries in your registry.

3. Registry Editor: This utility will help you edit your system registry.

4. Registry Defrag: This utility will defrag your system registry.

5. WinCustomizer: This utility will help you customize many aspects of windows including desktop icons, system logo screens, and many other visual aspects.

System Protection: This group of utility has everything that you will need to protect your system including a virus scanner, crashproof, rescue disk, and a scheduler that will allow you to schedule times for certain utilties to run.

System Diagnostics: This group of utilities has everything you need to make sure your computer keeps running well including a PC Diagnostics, system monitors, system explorer with will show you a variety of system information, and a utility to check and fix Y2K issues.

Crisis Center: Will help you save your computer when serious problems occur. It has links to information and recovery services to recover lost data.

Fix Wizard: All of these utilities can be accessed through the Fix Wizard.

I have been using this software since I received it. I have been very happy with all it can do and like it better than Norton Utilities which I have also used. I think Fix-it Utilities 2000 has more utilities avialable for the computer user to keep their running smoothly and up to date. My only problem with this program is that the Crashguard utility causes my computer problems upon shutdown, but I have found a replacement for that one feature. I highly recommend this software for any computer from beginner to advanced. The latest version even comes with Powerdesk 4.0 from the same company which is the best replacement for Windows Explorer around.
