Re: what a load of old tosh (Reply to this comment)

Sorry, I missed your comment earlier.
I was simply building a picture of the kind of image I get when I smell Opium. However, I appreciate there are those out there who perhaps prefer a more concise review.
As for others disagreeing with me... fine, but this is my opinion. I'm pleased you enjoy this fragrance more than I did.
Thanks for your comments.

No offence, but what has your aunty got to do with this EDT? If you don't like it you don't like it. There are many out there who would beg to differ with you.

Note Your Topic (Reply to this comment)
by DAnneC
Chris, you're writing under a topic area set aside for "Opium for Men." Is that really your intent? By the way, at 53 I'm young for an aging aunt but I love Opium--Opium for women, that is.
Regards,
Darla

Pearl Jam - I heard a far cruder version of how they got their name!!
However, I think I prefer your version.
Thanks for dropping by, glad you enjoyed!

Ah Cherie! The only woman who can whisper in her own ear!
I don't suppose you would get a straight answer, even if we asked her!!
Thanks for dropping by, Lobster!

Thanks Ed for your memories. In that town there was an army of Aunt Norah's, all with the same values and look! I think your home town must have been that bit more exotic!!
Thanks for dropping by - always enjoy your comments!

you smell like a girl (Reply to this comment)
by deaser26
yeah bruh,
what a delightful venture into the life of an aunt who is of a certain age...you have touched so lightly and carefully on the perfect old woman trip.
"I swear I recognize your breath
Memories like fingerprints are slowly raising
Me, you wouldn't recall, for I'm not my former
hearts and thoughts they fade
fade awayy"
just a little gentle love from Pearl Jam, named of course for Eddies Aunt Pearl, who made a killer jam as it turns out.
wonderful review amigo

Does Cherie Blair's hairdo require a painful sleeping regimen, I wonder? Her stiff bangs wrapped around some big crystals?

Never having partaken of the real . . . (Reply to this comment)
by ed_grover
stuff, I wouldn't have a clue as to what opium was like, but I do remember mentions of the cloying smell in old Charlie Chan mysteries. Far
more fascinating to me was the mention of Aunt Nora and her hair: always dyed that rather strange blue rinse colour and styled into a regimented sausages and tramlines perm by the towns hairdresser of choice . . ..
That brought up an instant picture of all the old blue-haired dollies in my hometown who also wore some sort of velvet rosettes pinned to the sides of their permanently curled heads. The hairdresser of choice made the bows and they came in bright navy, rose and claret. When you saw these old gals toddling down the street you knew there was a bridge party brewing somewhere.
Great review.

Wish I had that button because I certainly would have rated this review as such. Your description of this powerful yet gentle scent had me laughing out loud and your Aunt Norah sounds great - bless her soul!
Strangely, I have the same problem with my current favorite scent "Goodlife". The top note smells so strong, I don't care much for it at all, but within 10 minutes, it smells so warm and clean. Lasts a long time too!

Re: Of course I Must get my 2 cents in ! (Reply to this comment)

Hi Selena,
In the end I did a big re-edit of what I was going to say about my Aunt - it was far too harsh, and too long for what is a fragrance review - I was then a little concerned that she wouldn't come out "real" (which until a week or so ago, she was!)- thanks for the reassurance!
Anyway - glad to see you drop by.
Keep on keeping on!
