I purchased this product mainly to help with dust & dog odor in my house. (there is more dust than dog odor) We have a split level home & placed the unit against a wall in the living room that faced the front door..in hopes of it reaching a little more "area" to clean, like down the hallway. Because of the fan at the bottom (I think that is the worst place to put the fan) blowing out air-- we always kept our unit on "MAX CLEAN" & used the "turbo" button-- this created nothing but MORE dust & cobwebs like I had NEVER seen before. The light that hangs in the entryway would have the longest cobwebs you'd ever seen, my glass sofa table would have dust 1 hour after cleaning it, the walls that had exposure to this blowing air were covered in dust. I was constantly NOW dusting the walls too! Our ceiling fan in the living room had so much dust on the blades you would have thought it was alive! The frequency in which we had to replace the charcoal filter made the man at the Oreck store ask if we lived in a construction area. NO WE DO NOT! (our home is 20 years old) We had also purchased 2 of the Model: Air 8, one of which we had in our bedroom. When that was running I had to vacuum the wall above the air cleaner due to the dust that was created. (My husband has allergies so until we replaced that unit he kept the Air 8 running.) Also our TV in the bedroom had to be cleaned every other day due to the white film of dust. We have now replaced these Oreck "air purifiers" with Kenmore air cleaners (fan on the top) & I no longer have cobwebs on my entry-way light, no dust up the wall, my glass sofa table only needs to be cleaned once per week & my ceiling fan I only need to clean about once per month. I wish I could return those air cleaners because they are WORTHLESS!
