This is a far cry from a large notebook computer. It is very light and portable. When you travel you feel very comfortable to use this because it fits so well on your lap.
This is a Windows CE device. It is the size of a magazine. The model has an eight hour battery life which allows you to travel from New York to California without recharging. Imagine all the work you can accomplish in this time.
When you close the model it is the size of a rolled up newspaper. The size is 9.6 by 5.2 by 1.1 inches and weighs about 1.7 pounds. It is not a palm top. The keyboard allows for comfortable typing. The display is 640 by 240 with half of VGA resolution. The color is not that sharp but everything is quite visible.
It is configured with 32MB of memory (good amount for a CE model) a 56 kbps V 90 modem , and a port for the external monitor.
In the early Mobile Pro models, there was a stylus and not a mouse. There is a thumbwheel so users can scroll documents. It comes with a software bundle which is business oriented. It also has utilities for remote access networking with fax and back up tools. The Windows CE software has an abridged version of Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, and PowerPoint.
Since this is a CE model it doesn't work as a primary computer. However, users must use the serial cable and synchronization software to transfer files between it and the PC. I like this model because it is very small. If you don't like to carry allot of weight and want something inexpensive, this Mobile Pro is for you. However, it lacks a CD ROM and floppy drive. It does not have capability to run desktop applications either. It is like a small version of a notebook. Notebooks on the market have several more capabilities but they are not as light.
