I originally bought a Palm 125 a little more than a year ago. I liked it. But it was my first. I had to replace it, due to screen crapping out after about a month. The replacement served me well till about a month and a half ago.
The upper right corner would not take any press. Of course this makes it impossible to use any of the drop down boxes. I could hard reset, and reload and it would be fine for a couple of days. Anyway, as you can imagine, this grew old fast.
Lucky for me I bought the protection plan from Best Buy. Off to Best Buy I went. The Best Buy guy told me I could get a replacement of the same model (now worth less than $100) or I could take the full $200 credit and get a different model; he seemed to be pushing for "upgrading" to the Palm 130. "its in color, and everything!"
I was almost sold on one model, I can't remember the name now, that cost $300. Only $100 out of pocket. I could live with that.
Then.... I saw the E335 and the Compaq-HP (whatever) PPC.
I have long known that the PPC was a superior platform to the Palm, but it was always out of reach. Couldn't justify the price.
Well both were $300 after rebates. I was instantly sold.
the problem now was, which one to buy?
I stood in the store for about an hour looking at both.
I really liked the looks of the HP. Much more aesthetically pleasing. the Toshiba seems kind of "square" literally and figuratively.
The specs killed the HP though. this model, I cant remember the number, only had 48 meg of ram. they both had a 300 MHz proc. so that was equal.
In the end, the Toshiba had more bang for the buck.
the purchase was made.
I converted to PPC and never looked back.
I had been using the PPC for about 2 weeks as a glorified address book - colander. it was great. the screen was nice, I like the operating system and it was easy to use. Then I discovered 2 different programs at once, that changed the way I will use my PPC forever.
first was Journal bar. found at

Great program, automatically loads weather and local info, i.e. movies, TV etc, every time I hotsync (while my PC is connected to the internet)
and also the M$ Plus! Digital Media pack had a program called Sync and Go! worth its weight in gold. it downloads news clips, video and/or audio, and music or whatever. check it out.
But back to the review.
I love how slim the Toshiba is. it fits nicely in my pocket. the jury is still out on the case. I thought, at first I would have rather had a flip top, like my palm.
I even bought one.

Check it out. You might like it. I didn't. I used it for a couple of days, and I realized that my screen was always dusty, lint etc. I went back to the standard case.
one note though if you are thinking about buying the flip top. it installs the hard side of the Velcro to your PPC so when you go back to using the regular case, it catches on the inside fabric all the time. going to have to remove it permanently if I decide not to use it.
Over all I am Very happy with my purchase. I already had a couple of SD cards so that feature is great. as far as other storage options go, I don't need them. This is a great entry and even mid level product.
Bluetooth would be nice, but it would add size and weight. For the average user it is not really necessary, or worth it. (right now anyway.)
the deal got even sweeter. I was in Best Buy the other day and the E335 was down to $200 after a $200 rebate. don't know how long that offer is going, but it is sweet. thinking about getting one for my wife. (she is still chugging along on her palm. I think she has PPC envy)
I hate to end this on a negative note, but I just remembered one thing I really hate about the case. When you grab the unit by the sides to pull it out of the case, you will invariably hit the button to turn on the voice recorder. it was annoying, till I got used to pulling from the front and back rather than the sides, which seems more natural. Oh well, no big deal. don't let that hinder your decision. it is a good unit.
This is a great unit. Great value and loads of memory. i would recommend this to anyone looking for a PPC. I would recommend it twice as much for anyone who is now using a Palm. The price is low enough that most people in the makret can now take the plunge.
