naphtalia's Full Review: Paloma Picasso by Paloma Picasso 3.4oz Eau De Toil...
I'll be honest. As a child, when we went to a restaurant, I always wanted the most expensive thing on the menu. When I went shopping, I wanted the expensive shoes. When it came time to for toys, I wanted the one with the price tag that rivalled my mother's car. It should therefore come as no surprise that I developed a taste for high end perfumes, too.
Well, as I went out into the work world on my own and had to pay my own money for things, I found that I liked the lower end items at the restaurants and in the stores. I could not, however, shake my taste for high end perfumes. Fortunately, for most of these perfumes, there were knock-offs. Two exceptions existed, however. I could not find a knock off that satisfied me for either Estee Lauder's Private Collection or Paloma Picasso.
Paloma Picasso is named for a designer and businesswoman of extraordinary talent. She is the daughter of Pablo Picasso and Francois Gilot. She launched her signature perfume in 1984.
The perfume which bears her name is classified as a refined, woody, mossy fragrance. I find it has a wonderful spicy element to it also. Although this is not one of the notes normally ascribed to it, I've heard many people who use it describe it as having as strong spice note.
The scent is purely feminine as it also has a blend of floral and citrus elements. It is a strong scent and a very little goes a long way. I find that I wear less of this perfume at one time than nearly any other because it is so potent.
I tend to reserve wearing of Paloma Picasso for evening wear. It is too much for daily use. I also tend to use it more in the winter than in the summer. It just feels like a cold weather scent to me.
Paloma Picasso can be purchased at Macy's for $52.50 for a 1.7 ounce perfume spray, for $65.00 as a 7.25 ounce perfumed body cream, or for $45.00 for a 8.25 ounce lotion. There is also a 1.0 and 3.4 ounce eau de toilette that run about $43.00 and $65.00 respectively. You can often find better buys on the internet, but you will rarely find this perfume on sale in stores. Remember that spray perfumes may not be shipped air these days, so if you do order, plan on the time it will take to ship by ground.
Paloma Picasso is often not easy to find in department stores. If you do find it, however, it is worth trying. This is a wonderful and unique fragrance that won't leave you smelling like everyone else in town.
