I was looking for a new tv since my old unit would never give the picture quality needed for a dvd player. I must have racked my brains looking for a set under $400. to satisfy my wallet. I entered circuit city and found Panasonic's tv to be a clear choice for the budget conscious. Model CT-27D30 had it all. The picture is sharp. From I understand the tube has a dark black back ground to improve contrast. What is truly great is the jacks which come with the set. Both component and s are built into the set. I must add that if you are looking for the best picture, component is what you want. There is a catch however. Component wire are not for the weak wallet. At about $70. a set and with my bad eyes S jacks work just fine. The remote that comes with the unit is universal and operates my Dish network satellite and all my stereo equipment. The tv also comes with PIP but I need to upgrade my satellite receiver which would allows the use of this option. The sound is great but I have my stereo receiver wired for better audio. I MUST also add the dvd player I purchased was Panasonic's Model DVD-RV30 which makes a wonderful combination.
