We purchased this phone at the beginning of February 2004 and it has been a great phone so far. The speaker phone on the base is very clear and according to the people that I have talked to while using the speaker phone portion, it is crystal clear. We had the opportunity the other night to talk to my sister in another state using the speaker phone on the handset and she couldn't believe the quality of the sounds and her voice on our end was fabulous. The battery life is way better then our old Sony 900MHz phone.
The phone directory set up was a breeze. An outstanding feature is that you set up the directory on one phone and it will transmit the directory to the base station or other handsets when you are finished. (You can add up to 7 more handsets to the system!) It took all of 60 +/- seconds to transmit the data.
The voice mail alerts are really nice. The base unit has a large red light that flashes when you have voice mail and there is a separate button underneath the light for accessing your mail box. The handset LCD screen shows "mail" and it also has a separate button for accessing this feature.
Another great feature with this phone is you can use two handsets like walkie talkies. I plan on using this feature while working on the sprinkler system this spring. It should save a lot of yelling and walking back and forth.
This month we are purchasing a Panasonic KX-TGA273S which is another handset and a charger with a built in am/fm radio and alarm clock for our bedroom.
I am very impressed with the style and looks of the phone. The finish quality is superb.
The directory and caller list function take some getting use to. It is accessed via a push pad on either unit and you have to pay attention which way you scroll or it is easy to go into the directory when you want the caller ID list or vice versa.
Saving numbers from the Caller ID list is very simple. I programmed most of the options without having to use the manual. I found the system to be very intuitive.
