It appears you don't own this product. While you did an excellent research of reading other reviews and camera specs, I cannot give you a high rating if you never actually used the product. I expect people on this site to at least use the product for several weeks/months, otherwise the opinion is not based on fact; only other opinions. (i.e. hearsay)

Now I see that in your previous comment you were not talking about the FZ20, but rather about Konica Minolta A2? Because the FZ20 uses an SD Card...

The camera takes a CompactFlash card...I was using a 40X, 512 meg, Lexar card (state of the art high speed card).
The camera was set up to take a relatively small image, 1600x1200, the file was a .jpg image, typical file size 150k.
All settings were automatic default with flash forced to off.
For years I have had a Canon G1 (now a G5) and I could not get this camera to take an equivalent photo when set on automatic. I fought it for two days before throwing in the towel.

What was the shutter speed? I could use it with shutter speeds up to 1 second handheld (at wide angle though) with no blur in some shots. If you zoomed in or had shutter speed of more than 1 second, there might be blur. Image stabilization is no magic bullet, of course.
You say that the blur appeared even if camera was moved 5 seconds after the shutter release. It means that either the shutter spped was longer than 5 seconds or that the camera did not pre-focus before taking the picture. In the latter case, you have to make sure you use pre-focusing before taking the picture - don't just push the shutter release button all the way immediately.
As for EVF lock-up, did you write a TIFF file or JPEG? TIFFs are large and take a while to write to the SD card. Also, was the card high-speed or regular kind (or was it an, even slower, MultiMedia card)?

Well the one I bought (and returned) did. Maybe I stated it wrongly....the camera must be placed on a tripod when shooting street light scenes, it cannot be hand held.
When in "auto" or "night" or "dusk" settings the image will blur if moved within 5 seconds AFTER the shutter release. Did you exercise the camera in similar conditions? If so, what settings did you use?
Also, when I shot these scenes the camera's EVF locked up.
PS, I tried this camera 3 weeks ago from Costco so I think I had a current rev version.
Thanks, Gerry

Good questions. The camera does not refuse to shoot in low light and the LCD/EVF does not lock up.

Missing BIG showstoppers (Reply to this comment)
by GLGOFFIN
It seems like all of these reviews miss a couple of important points I consider show stoppers on the product. The first one is will it shoot in low light? My Canon G5 will shoot night scenes (without flash) with very little blur. I brought home a Konica Minolta A2 and the camera refused to shoot in low light conditions (like street light scenes). The other showstopper is does the EVF freeze up on "digesting" a picture? Can one follow the action and shoot another picture after a reasonable time (say 2 to 3 seconds) or dies the EVF (and LCD?) display lock up? Thanks, Gerry

The link in this review is provided so that when the review is posted on the other site (e.g. Shopping.com), the person reading it could go to the original review on Epinions.com
Using your logic, refreshing the page would also "inflate" the number of views. I doubt it works this way.
Thank you for your "Helpful" rating...

The way you link back to this very review so you get two outside reads for the price of one. You should have more confidence in your research, you don't have to trick people, or do you?
I gave you a helpful because you did good research, too bad you don't often use the products you review.
The reviews you have written based on products you have actually used are very helpful and of much greater use to the consumer.
Why do you research and write about products you have never used?
From reading this review I doubt you even went to the store and held the camera - it probably would have just slowed you down.
Anyways I think it is so funny the way you trick your reader into clicking back to the same review so you can get an extra read number.
