Excellent Value-priced vacuum.

Pros: Very quiet compared to other any upright vac I've used in the past.

Cons: When new, the vacuum tends to bounce when pulled backwards against the carpet grain.

The Bottom Line: I recommend this vacuum to anyone who is looking for a machine in the under $200 price range. The features make this an exceptional value.

I've used this vacuum for about 60 days. Having just gone though a divorce, I needed to buy an inexpensive vacuum that would clean my 2500 sq.ft. home which includes a messy 15 year-old son and a cat, as well as hardwood floors along with carpet.

I searched for something with a reasonable price but a cut above the standard fair offered at the usual big box retailers. Reading reviews on the net seemed to point to a Eureka model that I found in stock at Lowes. One glance at the machine and I felt the unit was heavy and of questionable durability. Further research led me to Panasonic. A local store had the MC-V7312 in stock at a reasonable $130 price point. Looking this thing over revealed a well-made vacuum with a few features that appealed to me. The noise level is significantly lower than the more expensive Hoover that I had owned previously.

Performance is great, despite the low noise; this machine cleans at least as well if not somewhat better than the above-mentioned Hoover. Two years ago, then this home was new; the Hoover would clog with carpet fibers with every use, requiring a complete teardown of the machine to clean it out. The Panasonic has a cleanout port that is snapped open to clean if it ever clogs.
