I picked this player up at the local record store. My main intent was to get a basic CD player which could read MP3's. Quite frankly this player fit 90% the bill.
It cost $59, so it wasn't too expensive. I like the size of it. It had a nice sound and the skip protection seemed to work very well. It also had an AM/FM radio, which is a nice bonus. My MP3's played fine and even worked in random mode (not using folders) although the instructions indicated that it wouldn't.
All in all, I was really happy, until I tried to turned the volume up. There are 25 levels, which is nice, but highest level, 25, sounded like it was Level 15. I couldn't believe how soft it was. I am not looking for an ear bleed, but this was ridiculous. If I had taken this on a plane or a subway, I wouldn't be able to hear anything.
What a shame! I returned to the store 24 hours later. Too bad; everything else was great.
