Pros: Nice picture when working.
Cons: TV spends more time at the service center than at my home.
The Bottom Line: I can not recommend this TV. Disappointed in Panasonic's quality and Circuit City's lack of customer service. This model has been officially discontinued by the manufacturer.

| angelsbreathe's Full Review: Panasonic VIERA TH-37PD25U/P 37 in. EDTV Plasma TV |
We purchased this Plasma 1/12/2005 from Circuit City in Thousand Oaks, CA. The tv had a beautiful picture, slightly grainy but we figured it was because we only have regular cable.
This was our Christmas present to each other and we actually had an entertainment center custom designed and built just for our new toy. Then on the 36th day after the purchase the TV screen flickered then shut off then when I went to turn it back on it made a crackling noise then for a brief second the picture tried to come on then it shut down fully and the only thing we see now is a red flashing light that blinks 7 times then pauses then repeats.
We contacted Circuit City, boy was that a joke. We were told in no uncertain terms "TOO BAD for you..NO REFUNDS" They continued to inform us that because the set broke after the first 30 days we are just going to have to deal with the manufactures warranty and get it fixed that way. Rudely they stated "you did not purchase the extended warranty from us so..Oh well get over it".
Our plasma stopped working on a Saturday afternoon, after the repair men had gone home, closed Sunday and Monday they did not open til 10am. We were told it will take 5-7 business days just to trouble shoot the problem then anywhere from 2-6 weeks to order the part and make the repairs.
So far NOT IMPRESSED with the set or the manufactures warranty service. Doesn't seem right for a set we paid 2547.18 for to brake down after only 36 days.
Best yet, Panasonic Service Reps. stated they have no idea why the TV is blinking and why it is not working, yet we have read on a few sites the same thing has happened to them on the same set, go figure. This could be a possible bug that Panasonic has NOT worked out in the set yet they do not want to slow sales so it is not discussed.
We wanted the latest technology, guess we should have waited until the products actually have all the bugs worked out.
UPDATE_- April 5, 2005 ...Well we took our Plasma into an authorized repair service agent on February 21, 2005 and we still have NOT gotten it back.
No one from the service center has bothered to contact us, we have had to call them and all three times we have made the connection we get no answers except it should be fixed and ready sometime in April.
After 4 calls to Panasonic and the forty-five minute average wait on the phone to speak with a human, we still are nowhere.
We have been informed that they have their top people looking into the matter and that 3 main components were bad and have to be replaced but there seems to be a backlog on those particular components so they will decide if we will get a new plasma, remember it was only 35 days old when it died, or if we have to wait until the idiots they contract the repairs out to complete the job.
None the less we paid full price of $2547.18 for this TV and we might as well just flushed the money down the toilet.
Panasonic repair policies are NOT worth a dime and no one returns calls as they state the will. If given the opprotunity to get a new plasma from Panasonic or get a refund we will take the refund.
My husband and I are VERY displeased with how we have been treated both at the service center and the main company. Recommend you purchase a Sony or Samsung.
UPDATE: April 15, 2005. Today we were informed the service center has finally received all the parts needed for our Plasma TV and placed them in the unit. We were informed the TV is still not functional and that this particular plasma set has been discontinued therefore Panasonic will refund the purchase price of our set. We have been informed a check should be mailed out and arrive in approximately 30 days from 4/18/2005. Today is the 57th day since we turned in our set to be repaired.I will keep you updated on the progress.
UPDATE: May 2, 2005. Today is Monday, 73 days after turning in our set for repair and 16 days since we were informed the check is in the mail. Hopefully we will get our refund within the next 14 days which will take the process to 87 days since this mess had begun. As I am sure you are wondering, NO the check has not arrived yet. I guess what I am saying is next time the "new" electronics devices come out we will wait until all the bugs are ironed out before we make a purchase.
UPDATE: May 24, 2005 Tuesday. Finally a REFUND check was received from Panasonic. To think it only took 95 days from the time the unit was placed for service. We are now looking into purchasing a new set. This time we will buy a HDTV wide screen without the Plasma. We are not going to buy a LCD or DPI either as with all new technology there are way too many kinks in the chain that needs to be worked out before we go that route again. Wish us luck..
