| vivisector's Full Review: Paradigm Titan Main / Stereo Speaker |
I have to admit, I love Paradigm speakers, and have them on everything I own. They have such a great price/value ratio, and their sound is excellent. I have auditioned multiple brands and models of hi end stereo speakers, yet a still keep coming back to Paradigm. The Paradigm Titan's are no exception.
When I first bought these speakers, I was upgrading my home theater system, and because of the size and shape of my room, I had to wall mount my rear speakers, and couldn't find any way to mount my Paradigm Phantoms on the wall without risking getting beaned in the head with them during a good movie. I went on the lookout for a good pair of smaller speakers, which were wall mountable. The Titan's matched what I was looking for. The Titan is a 2 driver(speaker) 2 way ported system. With a 6.5" polypropylene cone and have a die-cast chassis, which is unheard of in this price range. And the tweeter is a .75" ceramic/metal composite dome. Paradigm wanted to build the speaker with the best speakers possible, at a good price, so they sacrificed removable grilles(how often do you remove these anyway) for the added quality in the speaker. The frequency response is 60Hz - 20Khz +/- 2dB(not 3dB like the other manufactures) with a LFE of 50Hz. They can handle 60 Watts of power, and have a sensitivity of 89dB. The sensitivity of a speaker is important, as the higher the sensitivity of your speaker is, the less power you have to expend to it to get the required volume, usually helping you avoid amplifier distortion. They only take up 12L of volume, and only weigh 10.5 lbs, therefore they can be easily mounted on a wall.
I recently moved into a larger house, and have moved Titan's to my computer, as I have more room for my Paradigm Phantoms in the rear now. During parties, I usually play MP3's off my computer, and my friends are amazed that so much sound could be coming from such small speakers, and still sound good. From heavy metal to pumping dance/techno, these speakers deliver. My friends even said I must have a sub connected, as they didn't believe these little guys could put out that much bass.
In all, I highly recommend these speakers to everyone. I don't believe you can find a better speaker for the price.
