I bought MyBooks on a whim, after comparing it to QuickBooks. I decided to give MyBooks a try instead of QuickBooks, and now I'm regretting my choice. What a waste of $100.

First of all, I could not, after at least five tries, get the software to do what it was supposed to do: Namely, manage my business accounts. The interface is extremely clunky and not at all user-friendly, and on Mac OS X, doesn't even refresh properly when moving between windows, tabs, and/or menus. Data input in MyBooks is very laborious, needlessly tedious. I could never get my client receipts to match up with my invoices, no matter how carefully I entered them. It always seemed like things needed to be entered in a specific order, though I could not find any reference to this in the user manual.

One of the biggest annoyances was the inability to delete "companies" once created. If I wanted to start over (which I had to do at least 5 times, as I could never get the software to work properly each time), I either had to just create a "new" company (with a different name than the previous, even though it was always just my company) or uninstall and reinstall the software so I could start fresh. What a pain!

After several attempts to get this software to work, I have abandoned all hope. Now the box, with the disk and the nice thick user manual, just collects dust on my shelf. What a waste of money. Never again will I buy software on a whim, especially before at least trying the demo. I'm amazed such bad software is even sold in stores (in my case, Micro Center).
