Pros: Small, tough, cool-looking.
Cons: Blurriness, not that easy to use.
The Bottom Line: Buy this camera if you want a mid-level camera. Otherwise look at one of the Kodak EasyShare models.

| jdhpolson's Full Review: Pentax Optio S4 Digital Camera |
The Pentax Optio S4 is a tough little camera. The aluminium body has resisted all of my (accidental) attempts to destroy it, from dropping it from a great height to smashing it against a table. There isn't even a scratch on the body!
The connection cables are also strong and well thought out, and the various software interfaces are both clean and efficient, especially with a USB 2.0 cable.
The image quality is quite good as well, although as other Epinions members have noted, there is somewhat of a blurriness around the edges of photos. This is not a serious problem unless you want to print out A4 photos or seriously enlarge parts of your images, but it's a problem never the less. Colour balance is quite good, with no particular stand-out artifacts. The JPEG compression mechanism is quick and efficient, and (at the good or best settings) outputs photos that are clear and usually with minimal blemishes.
All in all, this is quite a good mid-range digital camera. I'd advise that you don't buy this if you've never bought a digital camera before, but if you know what you're doing then it's a great way to get around and take some photos - especially considering its tiny size!
