Pros: Spectacular picture and input jacks
Cons: Sound (Dolby) is average. Pricey if not on sale.
The Bottom Line: GREAT set for typical living room! Perfect for the person who wants a very decent TV without having to be an electronics "geek" or set up a whole theatre.

| armynursemom's Full Review: Philips 34PW850H 34 inch TV |
We haven't bought a TV since May, 1989 and so it was a whole different world when we went looking. Scouted around for a good month and finally settled on the Philips widescreen HDTV and it is superb.
The picture is clear, clear, clear and the DVDs we play have an outstanding clarity.
Initially, we purchased this model in a 30" but exchanged it for the larger 34" TV. The price difference was an additional $500 which is a lot, especially since the only upgrade on the large set is the size.
I waited til I found the TV on sale at Best Buys and did a price match at Good Guys (where I bought the TV) AND I received a 10% off coupon in the mail from Best Buy. So we ended up pay $1283 for the 34" Philips widescreen TV. I was thrilled!
The sound quality on the set is okay, not nearly as spectacular as the picture quality. We ended up buying a JVC home theater system to go with the set, also from our local Good Guys store. It's a neat system and we enjoy the surround sound experience.
This appears to be a great TV with the widescreen format and the high definition feature.
