I can highly recommend this DVD player to anyone, who just needs a basic DVD player, and I can especially recommend this DVD player to anyone who needs to play PAL DVDs or other formats.
The Philips DVDP 542 DVD player, is a very basic DVD player, but it has all the functions that you need and more such as DIVX. I bought this DVD, because I wanted a DVD player that could play all my European films, and this one has proved to be a perfect fit. Another thing that is great about the DVD player is its very slim size, which means that it can fit almost everywhere.
I bought this dvd player off Amazon.com ten months ago, and I have not encountered any problems. I use it for both my American and European dvds, and it never gives any trouble.
It plays the DVDs without problems, and all it took was a little hacking. I got the code to make the DVD player multi region on a website, and it was so easy to do. I just typed in the name of the DVD player and multi region. Please do not let this step scare you, because I was amazed about how easy it was to hack.
I would say that the only con about this DVD player is that it is not a recorder as well. However, the DVD player and the remote that comes with it meet all the needs of my family.
