Boy, am I happy with this!! I almost bought it by accident a couple of years back. This must be my best electronics buy ever! A nice unit, silver in color and very sleek. Looks good
I play divx, mpegs and lots of formats. Except rm files this plays every kind of video file I use. The royalty payable to guys at Real to include the codecs and drivers is too much I guess.
I have an equal amount of NTSC and PAL dvds and CDs and this player plays them flawlessly. Picture is good, I am happy. Looks like it converts PAL video into NTSC and that plays well on my Panasonic HDTV LCD projection TV. Neat!
The only other system I bought over the the years that I am very proud about is a 19" Daewoo TV/VCR combo for $100 in 2000, that still serves me very well. This DVD player matches that in terms of price, functionality and reliability.
Unit is well built, no flimsy parts. The remote is quite convenient too, not one of those flimsy ones. Remote is also very sturdy.
I have made my neighbors converts to this and similar Philips DVD players!!! Could not be happier!!
