thesiger's Full Review: Philips PM435S Remote Control
I bought this remote control because I needed to replace 3 other remotes, (TV, DVD and VCR). I chose this particular model because it was cheap, at $8.92, and because I wanted to test the waters, see if these things really worked.
I got home and after I figured out how to get the codes to work I was happy to see that all 3 devices worked. I was pleased at this moment until I actually sat down to watch a movie on the DVD player.
The DVD/VCR buttons (play, scan, rec, stop, pause) are so low on the remote that it felt really awkward placing the remote in my hand in order to press these buttons. It's as if I had to dangle it from the tips of my fingers and hit the buttons with my thumb at the same time. This means that when I let go of the buttons with my thumb in nearly slips off my hand because it's not really resting on my palm. It's practically all resting on my index finger. Maybe I just have a big hand or something but it feels awkward.
This might not be a good reason for someone else to give a product a bad review but for my it was enough of a reason.
The remote does what it says it does and is easy to set up but I don't want to juggle it in my hand every time I want to watch a DVD.
The variety of functions included on the remote are numerous enough to make me think it's a good product. Also, since I haven't mentioned it, all of the functions actually work. The product works well, it just needs a little design adjustment.
I am looking forward to returning this one and finding one which will fit better in my hand.
