Pros: The AT&T 2462 system measured up to the standards described by the favorable reviewers.
Cons: I have to depress the Line 1/2 button before picking up headset.
The Bottom Line: I recommend that interested folks pay attention to the positive reviews when making a judgement about the features provided by the AT&T 2462 cordless phone system.

I spent a lot of time tying to research the pros and cons of the AT&T 2462 2-Line 2.4 GHz phone system. The conflicting reviews are a mystery.
I finally placed my confidence in the favorable reviewers as well as the reputation for high quality with AT&T products. Also, I didn't like the "feel" of the bad reviews or of the competitors' equipment, including the Panasonic system.
I bought the AT&T 2462 base set and 2 cordless handsets. All have performed admirably for the 30 days or so of daily use. The setup is a snap. It does take some time to become familiar with how best to use some of the features.
The sturdiness of the AT&T 2462 equipment was particularly important in my decision to buy it. The features fulfill perfectly the needs of a small company, particularly a sole proprietorship. The volume control is very helpful. The displays are satisfactory, including with the caller ID function. The speaker utility works well, making it easy to switch back and forth between the headset and speaker. The various other functions are all handy to use.
The cordless handsets have proven to be totally reliable, even at fairly substantial distances. Their convenience and utility are marvelous.
I had a concern about the 2.4 GHz signal interrupting my wireless PC network. Thus, I placed my wireless PC network on Channel 10 and there has been no problem whatsoever.
The AT&T 2462 2-Line 2.4 GHz cordless phone system is worthy of very high praise. Anything less than high praise has to be suspect.
