Pros:great packaging, cheap, Caller ID, etc.
Cons:no blacklight
The Bottom Line: Sexy phone for me. Sexy phone for you. I think I use SEXY way too much. Now read the review.
We got Caller ID awhile ago. We had phones without the Caller ID display and we needed to get an upgrade. We have 4 phones in our house. Two are cordless, two are corded. Downstairs in the basement (where the computers are) is where I spend most of my life. I needed a Caller ID corded phone so I can run to it and screen my calls instead of running up a flight of stairs to try to find a cordless phone. Then by that time the answering machine would have picked up, and I would just listen to that while paging a cordless phone.
So while we were shopping in Target I came across the Southwestern Bell Freedom Phone for a whopping $10.
This phone is SEXY because...
It is definitely "sleek." The phone I bought is white, and isn't heavy or annoying. It has a nice fit into your hands and feels comfortable. The bottom piece (where the phone fits into) could be mounted on a desk or wall. The top piece has the caller ID display, and 4 buttons - Redial, Erase, and up and down Review. The numbers are big so if you have big fingers you can easily dial without a mistake. On the inside (where you put your ear) are obviously the numbers, Memory, Store, Reset, Mute, Redial, and Flash.
First, to have the Caller ID feature work, you need 3 AA batteries. The caller ID works fine. When a person calls it shows the name and number, date and time called. The only thing I dislike is that, THERE IS NO BLACKLIGHT. So in the dark I have to run to the light, run to the phone, see if I want to talk and run back to the light to turn it off. So much running. The thing that bothers me is that the keypad is lit up a yellow-green color, so why isn't there blacklight?
The phone remembers 64 name and number memories. This is great because no one ever erases the caller ID but me so I like to do it all in one shot.
There is an LED on the headset for a new call indicator. That flashing red light means I need to go through and delete things. :o) That's MY indicator.
Now I must be honest...
I don't use speed dial and I never will. I see no point to it.
BUT
* 3 priority speed dials
* 10 number memory
is all included for everyone who uses it. And just for your sake, I followed the directions in the package and it was simple to add a number to speed dial.
Another great feature is the volume control. I like when people are yelling in my ear, my sister likes it in the middle, and my mom likes it on a whisper. Which do you prefer?
There is also a 1 year limited warrenty. Cool huh? $10 and a warrenty!
Packaging
I was IMPRESSED. Most phones are thrown in boxes and crappy looking. The box is a nice piece of thick cardboard and the phone was wrapped in bubble wrap. The wires were individually packaged. Can you say - worth the money?
This phone is typical to set up. Even I can do it and I'm not the brightest crayon in the box when it comes to common sense. Their was instructions on how to put the batteries in for the Caller ID, what cords/wires/whatever go where, and how to set up the time/date and how to program speed dial.
This phone was at Target for $10 - excellent, excellent buy. I'm so proud of myself for finding this!
Thanks for the read,
Danielle
Just to let you know, my public profile isn't working, I've been contacting epinions.com several times about it - but I will be vacationing July 26-August 2nd so don't expect any opinions until I get back. Thanks
