Well, this is it, folks! The best phone on the market for a really great price.
When my son moved into his own home recently, he asked me to watch for a telephone with certain features to go on sale. He didn’t care which brand name it was. I was so lucky to find this phone! About a month later I purchased a phone at the same price with most of the same features for my daughter and her phone is terrible. (And that will be another review!
My son needed a main phone for his family room that would have both a digital answering machine and call is waiting identification capabilities and at least 900MGz. With those thoughts in mind, I began to watch all of the weekend sale papers. I finally found this Uniden on sale at K-Mart. It was normally priced at $79.99 but was on sale for $58.88. Since I’d been watching the different phones and the different price ranges, I knew that anything $60 or less would qualify as a good deal.
I have found phones that have a great answering machine but the phone quality and/or tone was lousy. I have found great sounding phones but the answering machine wasn’t digital or the voice answering message was garbled. But in this phone, I found the best of everything!
FEATURES
Color
This phone was a beige color. It blends in well with his home décor. Later I found the phone also comes in black. While the black doesn’t show dirt and fingerprints as quickly, my son still liked the beige color better. This would be a personal choice.
Digital Answering Machine
The digital answering machine on this model is excellent. Easy to use and the voice clarity is exceptional. This phone uses microchip technology and so there are no tapes to replace.
The answering machine identifies calls with the time and the day that each was received.
There is 15 minutes of recording time. This really provides you with a lot of time to record and store messages.
There is a flashing or blinking light that lets you know a new message has been received.
Caller Identification Function
Caller ID will only work if you have signed up for the service with your local telephone company. The caller ID name and number appear on your handset. This lets you decide if you wish to answer the call or have the caller leave a message. Like all phones, there are occasional names and numbers that show as “Unknown Name: Unknown Number”. This is either because the caller has blocked their return name and number (many sales people do this) or because the caller is out of range. It will also identify the call as “cellular phone” if the caller is using a cell phone.
Call Is Waiting
If you have also signed up with your phone company for Call Is Waiting, this phone enables you to see the name and number that is calling when you are talking on the phone to someone else. That gives you the option to either accept and switch over to the new caller or you can ignore it and continue talking. To switch over from one line to the other for either Caller ID or Call is waiting is done by simply pushing the Flash Key which is identified with the word Flash on your handset.
Clarity of Reception
This model has a very clear reception. It will automatically go through 40 different channels, if necessary, to find the best sounding one. You do not notice the telephone doing this. I once had one that drove me crazy as it roamed through or expected me to manually try different channels to clear the sound. Not this phone. It takes care of it automatically.
Storing Calls and Numbers
This phone allows you to store numbers with up to 32 digits. Usually you only need 7 to 11 digits for numbers, area codes and the number 1. However, if you call internationally, you will need more digit storage and this model allows you to store up to 32.
You can also have up to 10 numbers stored for memory dialing. You can easily program the numbers you call frequently into the phone and then assign each one a number. Push that number and it will automatically dial the number for you.
You can also bring up a number that had called you and push redial and the phone will redial the number for you. This feature will redial numbers up to 32 digits.
Finally
As you can see, this phone has numerous features and the price is reasonable. There are other similar phones, but I recommend buying this one. It is so good and reliable that I intend to take back the phone I bought my daughter and replace it with this model. It’s worth paying full price because this phone is true quality. You might have noticed, “I love this phone!”
